Our Love Story
"Be weird. Be random. Be who you are. Because you never know who would love the person you hide." C.S. Lewis
The Introduction
Our story began as a blind setup by mutual friends. Mary was sent a picture of me and asked what she thought. She replied "He's Beautiful! You should go out with him." Where her friend replied "No Stoopid, he's for you!" With excitement, Mary agreed to have her picture sent to me. Soon after, I received a picture of Mary with a text "Hey, what do you think? She's Latina and single." I immediately responded with, "Of course I'm down! Hook it up!!!" The photos to the left are the actual pictures we first received. As you can see, we were both obviously excited to meet each other.
Our First Conversation
Our first communication was the evening before my 34th birthday. Immediately after receiving Mary's phone number, I sent her a text to say hello. Within the first few minutes, Mary made sure to let me know that the photo she sent me was her "Good" photo and that I should first see the "Real" her before getting too excited. She then sent me a new picture with a comment "this is the real me with no filters." To which I quickly replied "If that is at your worst, beautiful! Followed with “And by the way, the photo you received of me was my 'Good' photo too. Here is a more real picture of me..." (The photos to the right are the actual pictures we sent to each other). We talked and joked for over an hour and decided to meet in person…
Our First Date
For the first date, Mary was brave enough to drive to the OC bubble from the Valley. We met up and had a few drinks to calm our nerves, as we were both so nervous and smitten with each other. We then headed to Laguna Beach and went to Mozambique. We had an amazing night with dinner, dancing and talking until 5am about everything and nothing. It was perfect...
The "next level" talk
I had everything planned out including an amazing dinner at Pelican Hill followed by a romantic walk by the beach with some gelato. Then when the mood was just right, I was going to ask Mary to officially become my girlfriend. Unfortunately, none of that happened since the restaurant was overbooked and had over an hour wait. Moving to plan B, Mary and I enjoyed a delicious meal at In-n-out followed by Yogurtland. After our little adventure, I asked Mary to officially be my girlfriend, where she responded with uncontrollable giggling followed by an excited "of course stoopid!"
The Proposal
On our third year anniversary, I planned yet another romantic dinner at Pelican hill (this time actually booking a reservation). Before dinner, we went to our 'favorite spot' to sit and watch the sunset. I nervously got on my knees and pulled out the ring and popped the question.. As usual, Mary responded with uncontrollable giggling followed by an excited "of course I would love to marry you! I love you!" To celebrate, we had an amazing dinner in a private cabana with our amazing friends.
The Wedding
After getting engaged, we agreed to push the wedding out a couple years and enjoy the engagement. However, that quickly changed being that Mary is a Gemini and we are both a little on the crazy side. One early morning in mid May, Mary woke up and randomly asked me "Hey, what if we just get married this year?" Half asleep, I responded with "I'm down. YOLO!" Once I finally woke up, Mary had already looked for good dates for the wedding. As usual, I said "As long as it’s not on my birthday month, I’m good!" With a few minutes of going back and forth we quickly agreed on Sept. 28th, 2018. As with most things in life, we got extremely lucky with every aspect of the wedding. Including the Venue of our dreams being available (with every date within 2 months before and after fully booked), Mary's desired wedding dress being available and within the time frame, as well as the other vendors and the timing overall. This was truly meant to be...
